Construction work on Union Station's redevelopment is scheduled to begin Tuesday, when the two northbound lanes of Wewatta Street, west of the station between 16th and 18th streets, will be blocked off for relocating utility lines.
The work is the kickoff for the $500 million redevelopment of the Union Station area as a hub for RTD's bus and rail operations and other transportation providers.
Four new commuter rail lines that are part of the Regional Transportation District's $7 billion FasTracks project will come into Union Station, including the train from Denver International Airport.
The lane diversion and utility relocation on Wewatta is expected to take about two months, according to Kiewit Western, the project's contractor
